Panic Attack

My classes are only 5 1/2 weeks long right now. My cat died right before class started this time, causing me to be unable to concentrate at the beginning of the class and got behind. In the 5 1/2 weeks we have 5 researched essays, 2 online discussions that must be researched and a ten page paper. A lot of work!

Halfway through the course I was able to concentrate again (my grief was compounding my ADHD), and slowly started to catch up. Then last Thursday I was pretty sick (sinus infection) and didn't return to work until Wednesday. I didn't get any homework done while sick.

Yesterday I had a panic attack at work when I realized how far behind I was - class ends Wednesday. Since things are slow at work right now, my boss and team lead had no problems with me taking off work to catch up. My professor was also very understanding and will give me an IP grade and allow me an extra week to complete the course. (But another class starts on Thursday. It is a hybrid class: half online and half on campus. It doesn't meet until Monday the 22nd, but I will need to check the online component before then. )

I know things like this come up and happen but I really hate to ask for special treatment or more time. Makes me feel like an idiot for not being able to complete things.
