Hi, Winter!

My graduation/Christmas gift to myself this year is a puppy. My friend, Anne's dog, Kelly had puppies with just the perfect timing. I was very lucky and the puppy formerly known as Orange Boy (scroll down) got to come home with me! Orange Boy is now WhiteStar's Polar Express to be called "Winter". He's very sweet and quite adorable:

Meeting big brother Spook for the first time. Winter meeting the cats was interesting to watch. Spook and Wizard kept a close eye on Winter, but didn't puff their tales or run away. They did growl keep away messages. Boo however, fluffed up completely and ran away. Winter seemed a bit confused by that. Maybe since she was white, he thought she was an odd little Sammie?

not looking at you

Winter is very underfoot right now and quite squirrelly when he's not, so it's hard to get hard to get a nice picture. Most of the pictures I took of him resemble the one above.

Just a pretty portrait:

But before I got Winter, I completed one more stuffed animal. Clownfish is done. Finished an hour after my niece opened him. I wrapped him up before I managed to get a face on him. (She arrived less than 5 minutes after I put a bow on the package!)

Not sure if it was just me, but I found it very difficult to embroider eyes that big on a knitted background. Normally I would use beads or buttons, but my niece is only almost 3.

the clownfish is too cool too, amazing how from lots of pieces of something knit you can make such adorable stuffed animals :)
