Some color for the page

I'ven't put up many pictures recently and this page needs a little color.

This is what I've been working on while my concentration has been completely shot. I have a final tomorrow night (wish me luck) and a project due the night after that, so I hope my concentration returns.

The sock had grown some more. I don't think I'll be able to match what I've done when I do the second sock. I've been increasing and decreasing with some randomness, but the result is that the sock toe/foot that I have so far works really well for my left foot. So I'll just size the other other sock for my right foot.

This is the experiment I mentioned in the last post. This is some Crazy Monkey Creations yarn that I got from Christy a few months ago. It is a licorice twist yarn in red, orange, and yellow. I only have one skein of it. I am playing around with this shawl. It's a fairly simple pattern (which is good, as the pattern is riddled with errors). I don't think I have enough yarn for an entire shawl in this pattern, so what I might do is take coordinating yarn (I have some sock yarn from Christy dyed at the same time and same colors, but not licorice twist), and do a large border at the wide end of the shawl. Listing this as an experiment, as I'm not sure how it'll turn out or if I'll like it. This is actually nice relaxing knitting. Enough variation in the stitches to make me keep changing hand positions so my hands don't hurt later, while being a simple enough pattern to be nearly mindless.

And completely unrelated to knitting, here is the little dragon that I picked up as a mood upper. He's nice and colorful without being garish.

I haven't named him yet, so let me know your suggestions.

Dear Livejournal: your spell checker is very confused.

Both the sock and the shawl look lovely, even at just the beginning stages. I've never tried sock or shawl knitting. It gets too cold in Chicago for anything less than a cardigan. I really want to attempt socks soon though.

You could name your dragon Norbert.
